Barack Obama on Energy and the Environment

The White House website had a complete makeover just as he was being sworn into office, and with that, his policy and agenda where added to the website.

Has his agenda changed from when he was campaigning?
If you look at his energy agenda when he was campaigning, you can see there are a couple of bullet points that are now missing.
• Provide short-term relief to American families facing pain at the pump
• Enact a Windfall Profits Tax to Provide a $1,000 Emergency Energy Rebate to American Families.
Why has he taken these off his energy plan? Maybe it was just a copy and paste error by whoever handles his website, maybe it wasn’t.
Even though the price of oil has dropped considerably since the high in the summer, people still help filling up the gas tanks. With the recession, most people are still trying to recover from the high prices of oil over the summer. Who knows, maybe when the price of gasoline jumps back up he will put these bullet points back on his energy plan.
We have to note that the price of a barrel of oil closed at $42.79 the day he became president. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of years when he puts his energy plan in place.

Nice post. In a couple years, if economies recover, esp. in China, oil will be $200/barrel.

Obama simply realizes that the (GRD) great republican depression has not whacked enough arrogance and sense of entitlement out of the general American population to receive a “Greening” gracefully and without whining and pining for the good old days of 500 hp V- 8 and 5000 calorie a day junk-food diet! He also well understands the full extent of the depression we are in, and understands and has said things will get worse before they get better! How much “worse” is the big question. Expect a Post GRD time of “Post-Materialists”, after an astounding, soul shaking, mind bending contortion and a convulsive time of realization for the American people, as oil runs out and we are forced to depend wholely on nuclear, Solar, Wind, Wave, Tidal, and Geothermal processes for power. Obama can most gently and humanely Shepard the American people through this period of change, and might not even have to resort to making Iran and Iraq into a shiny glazed, radioactive, parking lot, for Hummers, and outright stealing the oil found there, to bring relief to a part of humanity totally addicted to massive consumption of meat and oil. These are about to become very trying times for the world, and as long as the OPEC folks blackmail the American folk for higher oil prices for less oil, things will not get better. America needs independence from OPEC and must stop sending its sons and daughters for cannon feed in Middle Eastern dirty little Sunnis wars and start building Solar, Wind, Wave, Tidal, and Geothermal power plants as fast as possible, perhaps even a “Manhattan Project” is in the works. Remember: The OPEC and Saudis are hiding the facts about supplies to us as we speak, for political reasons, and are holding those facts in their hand, to play us to their advantage! We are more than their biggest customer, we are the only good card they hold right now. The must come clean, and let American scientists evaluate their wells, strategically, we need to know when (not “If”, folks) the end is going to be, to prepare for it so we can survive the bump and the change-over to other energies. Obama waits for our conditioning for acceptance of these cold hard facts, and realizes we are not ready yet.

I hope that Obama is really going to do this for America and the world. We sure as hell need it, coz I think that our world is about to come to an end.
